The Challenge
One of the challenges for a UX designer in creating the Bani Finance app is striking the right balance between simplicity and functionality. Cryptocurrency trading involves complex concepts and intricate processes, and it can be overwhelming for users who are new to the space. The UX designer must carefully craft the app’s interface and user flows to ensure that it is intuitive and easy to navigate, while still providing all the necessary features and information for effective trading.
Providing the Solution
As a solution, we implement a progressive onboarding process to guide new users through the complexities of cryptocurrency trading. We created a personalized dashboard that allows users to customize their trading preferences, such as selecting their favorite cryptocurrencies. Furthermore, we also integrated user-friendly portfolio management tools that enable users to track their investments.
Project Role
I had the responsibility of understanding the needs and goals of our target users and translating them into intuitive and visually appealing designs. My expertise helped create a seamless onboarding process, simplifying complex concepts related to cryptocurrency trading and ensuring a user-friendly interface for easy navigation and interaction. 1.0 DISCOVERY
Team Kickoff
The team had an engaging Zoom meeting to kick off the development of the Bani Finance app. We discussed creating a user-centric experience, with progressive onboarding and a personalized dashboard. The UX designer presented wireframes, and we emphasized scalability, regular usability testing, and iterative improvements. Action points include refining wireframes, backend development, market research, establishing a timeline, and scheduling check-in meetings.
Introductions: We started the meeting by introducing ourselves and sharing our roles within the team.
Project Overview: We discussed the objectives, user goals, and key features of the Bani Finance app.
UX Design Presentation: Our UX designer presented the initial wireframes and mockups, opening the floor for feedback and discussion.
Technical Requirements: The development team addressed the technical aspects and discussed the backend infrastructure.

2.0 IDEATION
User Flow
Wireframes
We then created low-fidelity wireframes in Figma. This step helped us to get a feel for placement, sizing, and spacing for each of our sketched screens. I mainly worked on the home page, clothing page with filter menu, and the boutique directory, but I also worked on small details to help other teammates out on the other pages. Our team met several times a week to collaborate on design decisions and came together at the end to choose our most effective screens
3.0 DESIGN
Mood Board
The mood board for the Bani Finance app showcases a captivating blend of yellow and purple, creating an energetic and sophisticated brand identity. The color yellow represents optimism, innovation, and warmth, while purple conveys a sense of luxury, creativity, and wisdom. The combination of these colors adds a vibrant and modern touch to the app’s visual language. The mood board features dynamic images of cryptocurrency transactions and digital charts, reflecting the app’s focus on empowering users in the ever-evolving world of finance. Clean and contemporary design elements, along with a bold use of typography, contribute to a visually striking experience that exudes confidence and reliability. The mood board aims to inspire users and instill a sense of trust and excitement as they explore the Bani Finance app.
Brand Personality
As a crypto trading company, Bani Finance exudes a brand personality that is dynamic, innovative, and trustworthy. The company is forward-thinking, embracing the cutting-edge nature of the cryptocurrency market. Bani Finance radiates a sense of confidence, demonstrating expertise in navigating the complexities of digital finance. The brand personality is characterized by adaptability and resilience, recognizing the ever-changing nature of the crypto industry.
Brand Attributes
The brand attributes of the Bani Finance app as a crypto trade company are characterized by trustworthiness, innovation, user-focus, knowledgeability, accessibility, security, responsiveness, progressiveness, empowerment, and professionalism. Bani Finance is seen as a reliable and transparent platform that prioritizes the needs of its users, offering innovative solutions and deep industry expertise. It aims to make cryptocurrency trading accessible and understandable for all users while ensuring the highest standards of security.
UI Inspiration
For the Bani Finance crypto trading app, we drew inspiration from various sources to create a visually appealing and user-friendly UI. We explored modern financial platforms and cryptocurrency exchanges, such as Coinbase and Binance, for inspiration on clean and intuitive interfaces. Additionally, we looked at fintech applications known for their sleek designs and user-centric experiences, like Revolut and Robinhood. We also studied popular finance news websites and mobile apps to incorporate elements that would enhance the app’s market news section. By combining these inspirations with our own unique design approach, we aimed to create a visually engaging and highly functional UI for the Bani Finance app.
Design System
After finalizing the home page, we then started working on the style guide and components pages. I primarily worked on color palette, typography, photography, and grids for the style guide. Our style included team decisions on logo, colors, typography, photography, and components.
High-Fidelity Screens
Once the style guide was finalized, we proceeded to develop the hi-fi screens, leveraging our existing lo-fi wireframes as a starting point and incorporating the brand aesthetic defined in the style guide. While the entire team contributed to the screen design process, my primary focus was on crafting the home page, the clothing page with a filter menu, and the boutique directory. We maintained regular team meetings to ensure that the screens met the client’s requirements and were ready for delivery.
Best Practice
Avoiding Clutter
To avoid clutter in the Bani Finance app, we followed a minimalist design approach, prioritizing essential elements and removing unnecessary visual elements. We established a clear visual hierarchy, streamlined navigation, and maintained a consistent layout throughout the app. Thoughtful use of white space, progressive disclosure techniques, and decluttered typography helped create a clean and organized interface. By implementing these practices, we aimed to provide users with a visually appealing and intuitive experience, allowing them to focus on critical information and actions without feeling overwhelmed by excessive visual noise.
Ease of Signup
To make the sign-up process easy in the Bani Finance app, we implemented several practices. Firstly, we minimized the required fields to only essential information, reducing user effort and time. Additionally, we provided clear instructions and guidance throughout the sign-up form, ensuring users understand what information is needed and why. To enhance usability, we incorporated real-time validation and error messages, alerting users of any incorrect or missing details. Furthermore, we offered Google sign-up option or the ability to auto-fill certain fields, simplifying the process for users who prefer convenience. By employing these practices, we aimed to create a frictionless and user-friendly sign-up experience, encouraging more users to join the Bani Finance app.
Developer Handoff
In the final stage, we transferred design assets, specifications, and documentation from the UX/UI design team to the development team.
4.0 REFLECTION
Looking back on the project
Upon completing this product, I experienced significant personal growth as a UX designer specializing in trading platform design. The project proved instrumental in honing my skills, thanks to the clear directives and effective communication from the stakeholders. As a result, our team successfully delivered the project with remarkable speed and efficiency. I take immense pride in our accomplishment of meeting the team’s vision.
